Perhaps it is the parliamentary whip system which renders our supposed Democracy so impotent and corruptible. We elect people to represent us who are then “whipped” to do the bidding of a small cabal at the heart of power in Westminster. They fall in to line and repeat the half truths, fallacies and stock responses from on high be it out of self interest or well intentioned naivety. This is simply not good enough, a system not fit for purpose.
