1) Support the Junior Doctors, Wednesday 10th February

Stockport Against Mental health Cuts will be supporting the NHS junior doctors on Strike this week to defend our NHS and safety of service

We will attend the doctors’ picket line at the Poplar Grove entrance to Stepping Hill hospital (near the junction of the A6 with Dialstone Lane), from 8 am with our banner, alongside other campaigners. Please join us if you can. It is vital that the junior doctors win their fight – this is about the future of our NHS.

2) Public Meeting Manchester in defence of Mental Health Services.Shadow Minister for Mental Health, Labour MP for Wavetree, Luciana Berger will be speaking in Manchester at a meeting organised by Manchester User Network. The meeting is on Thursday 25th February 2016 13.30pm in the Friends Meeting House. Come and voice your opposition to the closure of an increasing number of mental health services in Manchester.

The User Network also welcome debate on the future of mental health services . All Welcome.

3) Pennine Care Cuts to Mental Health Services

Our service in Stockport has made the National news! See the Mirror Article below.

They seem to have failed to mention that this was achieved on the back of a hard fought Community and UNISON backed campaign against Mental Health Cuts, which included the threat of industrial action on more than one occasion. It is the case that there has been no impact on cuts in any other area that Pennine provides mental health services. Just in Stockport where we have had a unified trade union and community campaign.
As a campaign we are now awaiting implementation of the new planned structure. There are continued concerns about the ability to provide safe services in Stockport and from the failure of the local clinical commissioning group to adequately fund our services. We will keep you posted on developments.
4) Monthly Meetings– First Wednesday of every month at 5.30pm, Stockport Town Hall- All Welcome.
5) Like our Facebook and keep up to date on campaigning- A news letter will be coming out soon.
