A sad reminder that the A+E Department of Trafford General – Birthplace of the NHS will close at midnight tomorrow 27th November 2013. The event will be marked by a candlelit vigil. An urgent care centre will function from 8.00am till midnight until the next phase of closure is announced.
Emergency and major surgery ceased on Monday 18th November 2013.
The conservative council made noises regarding an appeal against the decision of its own party’s Health Secretary but after taking legal advice did not do so. They have not made this advice available to the public who paid for it.
While every minute counts for a critical patient, Accident and Emergency Departments throughout the country are being closed and downgraded. They are expensive, risky and not an attractive financial prospect for the private companies that are being handed our NHS.
